The PAX Q25 is a wired Smart PINpad — a compact, dedicated card-and-PIN-entry accessory built on PAX's Prolin OS. Unlike a full standalone terminal such as the PAX A80, A920 Pro, or Valor's VP550/VP800, the Q25 does not run a checkout application, hold its own merchant menu, or process a sale by itself. It connects to a host register or POS system — over RS232, Ethernet, USB, or optional Wi-Fi — and handles the card-present, PIN-entry part of the transaction on behalf of that host.
This is the key distinction from a device like the PAX D135: the D135 is a Bluetooth wireless PIN pad positioned for mobile, untethered use, while the Q25 is a wired companion device meant to sit at a fixed checkout point beside a register. Either way, both require a compatible host terminal or POS — neither works as a standalone payment terminal on its own. A 2.8" TFT QVGA touchscreen displays a clear "Select Payment Type" prompt, so staff and customers still get a real on-screen experience even though the transaction logic itself lives on the host system.

Because the Q25 pairs with a host system rather than running independently, getting the connection right matters more than with a standalone terminal. The Q25 supports RS232 serial, Fast Ethernet, USB 2.0, and optional Wi-Fi, giving CARDZ3N several ways to match it to whatever register or POS a merchant already has — or to a new CARDZ3N POS/terminal setup at time of install. CARDZ3N does not publish one universal "host terminal" for the Q25, since compatibility depends on the merchant's specific system; a CARDZ3N rep confirms the right pairing and handles configuration as part of onboarding.
