PAX A80: An Android Countertop POS Terminal

A

The PAX A80 is a full Android countertop POS terminal, PCI PTS 5.x and NFC contactless certified, running Android 6.0 on a 4-inch HD touchscreen. Unlike the D135 companion PIN pad, the A80 has its own complete, PAX-documented transaction-flow guide covering every standard transaction type.

Platform & Connectivity

The A80 is a countertop Android terminal running Android 6.0 on a 4-inch HD touchscreen, PCI PTS 5.x and NFC contactless certified. Unlike the D135, the A80 comes with a full 11-page PAX-authored transaction-flow quick-reference guide, co-branded with CARDZ3N, covering every standard transaction type in detail.

Connectivity options include WiFi, dial, and Ethernet, with an optional back-up battery so the terminal can keep operating through a brief power interruption. A built-in camera supports 1D/2D code payment scanning alongside standard insert, swipe, and tap card entry.

The Credit Sale Transaction Flow

The A80's documented Credit Sale with tip follows an 8-step flow: tap Sale, enter the transaction amount and confirm, enter a tip amount or bypass, insert/swipe the card or key it in manually, enter a Server ID and confirm, capture a signature (confirm, clear, or cancel), remove the card, and the terminal displays the transaction status. A Credit Refund follows a similar 7-step pattern (Refund → apply by card number or reference number → enter amount → card entry → Server ID → signature → status), and a Credit Void takes 6 steps (Void Sale → input the original transaction number → Server ID → confirm the displayed transaction → signature → status).

Advanced Transaction Options

Beyond a standard sale, the A80's QRG documents a Forced Sale (7 steps: enter amount, card entry, enter the original transaction's Auth Code, Server ID, signature, status), a Tip Adjust workflow (8 steps: Func → Tip Menu → search by Clerk/Server ID or Operator → select the transaction → Adjust → confirm → enter the new tip amount and confirm → status), and Close Batch / Reprint options (Func → Batch → Batch Close, with or without untipped transactions; separately, Func → Print → Print Last, Print Detail, or Print Any).

The A80 also has a dedicated Gift menu (via the Gift button: Sale, Return, Add, Activate, Unload, Deactivate, Balance) and a Debit menu (via the Debit button: Sale, Return, Balance, V/Sale, V/Btrn), each reached through the terminal's own hardware buttons rather than buried in a settings menu.

What's Documented and What Isn't

The A80 has some of the strongest source material in CARDZ3N's PAX lineup: a full 11-page PAX-authored, CARDZ3N co-branded transaction-flow QRG covering every step of Sale, Refund, Void, Forced Sale, Tip Adjust, Batch Close/Reprint, Gift, and Debit in detail. What that QRG does not include is a full processor/memory/battery spec table the way the Valor VP550, VP800, and VP550C datasheets do — PAX's product sheet confirms the Android 6.0 platform, 4-inch HD touchscreen, PCI PTS 5.x and NFC contactless certification, and WiFi/dial/Ethernet connectivity, but not exact processor, RAM, or battery-capacity figures.

What is confirmed, directly from the source material: the full transaction flow documented above, the platform and certification details, and connectivity options. We'd rather point you to exactly what's documented than guess at a spec table PAX hasn't published for this model — ask your CARDZ3N rep for the latest confirmed detail before ordering.

Pricing

The PAX A80 is available through CARDZ3N with pricing quoted per merchant based on volume and equipment needs — CARDZ3N is the sole quoting and selling party, never a pass-through to PAX's own pricing. Ask your CARDZ3N rep for current pricing.
