The Valor VP550C: Valor's Smart Android Countertop Terminal

C

The VP550C is Valor PayTech's countertop Android POS terminal — not a mobile device like the VP550 or VP550E, but a fixed-station unit built for counter-service and food-environment checkout, with a fast printer and named menu tools baked in.

A Countertop Device, Not a Mobile One

Every other Android POS terminal in Valor's documented lineup — the VP550, the VP550E, the flagship VP800 — is a mobile, battery-powered handheld. The VP550C is the one exception: a fixed countertop unit closer in role to the PAX A80 or A920 than to its own mobile siblings. It trades the mobile devices' battery for a wired power supply and adds a wired Ethernet port neither the VP550 nor VP550E offers.

That form factor is also why the VP550C is the only device in Valor's line documented with explicit food-service and counter-service positioning in its own partner brochure — named menu management, pay-at-the-table, bill splitting, and tip adjustment, alongside the security and speed language shared across the rest of the Valor family.

  • Countertop (not mobile) Android form factor with wired Ethernet
  • Built-in menu and inventory management
  • Pay-at-the-table, bill splitting, and tip adjustment built in
  • High-speed 80mm/s integrated thermal printer
  • PCI PTS 6.x and full EMV/contactless certification

Transaction Flow

Credit Sale takes 4 steps: enter the transaction amount and press OK, swipe/insert/tap the card (or start typing for manual entry), sign and tip if prompted, then choose a receipt delivery method. Debit Sale adds a fifth step — tap Credit until Debit is displayed, then enter a PIN alongside the tip prompt.

Void, Refund, PreAuth, and Capture Preauth all cycle through the same Sale-button toggle used across the Valor line: tap Sale repeatedly to reach the transaction type, enter a password where required, enter the transaction number or last 4 card digits, and confirm. A Pre-Sale Ticket is generated separately via Main Menu > Page Down > Host Utility > Pre-Sale Ticket.

Favorites Menu

The VP550C's Favorites Menu covers day-to-day operations: Reprint Receipt for the last transaction, Tip Adjust on transactions within the current batch, Settlement to close out the batch, and Report for summary and detailed batch reports.

It also includes device-management options not listed on the VP550/VP550E Main Menu: Change Password (with separate passwords for settlements, voids/refunds, and removing a custom fee), Download Package for parameter/version updates, Comm Config for internet settings, Reboot, and Remote Diagnostics for ISO remote troubleshooting.
